Reassuring in times like these, isn't it?
panorama view of the canyon

We drove back over to the lodge and the rain finally stopped enough for us to finish our trail hike and see even more different versions of Grand Canyon vistas. Back to the tent for another snackin' supper of sandwiches, chips and onion snacks. We decided to head out on the trail and watch the sunset.

The trail was damp but passable. Jason went on ahead with Tears for Fears while Barbara and Lucy staked out a spot to watch the colors change as the sun went down, then decided to head back to camp. Jason kept going and was lucky enough to watch a pink lightning show over the canyon; then couldn't decide whether to head back to camp in the dark or hike to the lodge in the dark to buy a flashlight.

He came back to camp and started to light a fire without much success. Barbara assisted, got a roaring fire going and was known from that point on as Fire Goddess. Jason unscrewed the bright light-bulb on the restroom hut that had been bothering him and we stared into the fire for hours while the day's electricity calmed down and faded to black.

Everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon
